Say goodbye to orange-peel skin

In everyday language we refer to it as “orange-peel skin”. In medical terms, it’s known as adiposis edematosa or gynoid lipodystrophy. We’re talking about unsightly CELLULITE. Fighting it is the goal, and we tell you how.

CELLULITE affects more than 90% of women to a greater or lesser degree and has become the aesthetic body issue that causes the most concern. However, although it’s mostly women who suffer from it, we shouldn’t forget that 10% of men also have cellulite.
This metabolic disorder becomes visible due to a “cushioning” of the adipose tissue in the affected area. This results in lumps and hollows in the skin relief caused by adjacent fat deposits.

WHAT CAUSES CELLULITE?
Those hormones that drive us crazy are especially to blame, particularly the production of oestrogen (the female hormone). Such is the case that it’s been proven that if the level of oestrogen increases, more volume is accumulated on the hips and thighs (during puberty). And if the level of oestrogen decreases, the increase in volume is transferred and located on the abdomen and waist (during menopause). That explains a lot, doesn’t it?
But hormones aren’t the only trigger. Its appearance is caused by a collection of factors. We have to add genetic factors (pertaining to a certain ethnic group or a family history of circulatory problems), lifestyle factors (leading a sedentary life or abusing tobacco or alcohol), dietary factors (following a diet rich in fat or carbohydrates, or scarce in fibre), and more. All of these factors determine the formation of cellulite.
And it aims to settle in and stick around forever.

ADVICE ON HOW TO FIGHT CELLULITE
How can you get rid of the annoying orange-peel skin ruining your figure? You’ll need some serious willpower, which goes without saying, but with just a few changes to your daily routine and habits you’ll gradually leave it behind. Motivation won’t be an issue. Take note!

  • A balanced diet
A good diet is key. Fill your fridge and cupboards with pineapple, strawberries, banana, avocado, carrots, squash, cauliflower, spinach, artichokes, asparagus, kale, nuts, pulses and oily fish. Become a fan of fruit and vegetable smoothies. Keep sugar and salt away from your daily diet. Forget about sweet treats. Refined, processed, fried and fatty foods are definitely out.
  • Drink lots of water
This helps to purify the body and encourage draining. Get used to “tea time” in the evening as a permitted variant. Our favourite’s green tea because it also has antioxidant properties. Carbonated drinks or soft drinks are absolutely prohibited. And alcohol should only be drunk in moderation. Avoid coffee as much as possible.
  • A little cold water in the shower
Finish off your daily shower with a few minutes of cold water to stimulate blood circulation and prevent fluid retention. Let the water wash over your legs several times, from the ankles to the thighs.
  • Follow a healthy lifestyle
Avoid stress as it releases insulin and encourages fat and sugar accumulation. Make sure you sleep eight hours a night on a regular basis. Quit smoking. Be active and avoid a sedentary lifestyle.
  • Get regular physical exercise
You don’t need to be dripping sweat. A cardio exercise like walking is the perfect place to start. But make sure you’re consistent and do it regularly. Set aside at least 15 minutes a day to keep fit with a list of gentle exercises. We recommend swimming if you’re looking for a comprehensive activity. Squats are a fantastic area-specific exercise.
  • Don’t wear clothing that’s too tight
Comfort is always best, but in this case there’s even more truth to it. Don’t wear tight clothing as the only thing it does is prevent your skin from breathing.

PUT YOURSELF IN THE HANDS OF PROFESSIONALS!
Lastly, visit a beauty centre and put yourself in expert hands. An anti-cellulite salon treatment personalised to your type and degree of cellulite is essential to ensuring success and winning the battle against awful orange-peel skin.
By combining high-performance, lipo-reducing cosmetics – which are capable of mobilising, dissolving and burning the fat accumulated in a specific area (thighs, glues, waist, abdomen, back, arms, etc.) – with an expert manual massage or a massage using techniques of proven efficiency, such as suction cups (cupping massage) – which activate lymphatic drainage and blood circulation – you can accelerate the metabolic processes. This leads to optimal oxygenation of the adipose tissue. In addition, the use of aesthetic equipment, such as electroporation or radiofrequency, allows us to move active ingredients to the hypodermis and optimise results. It’s the winning formula we’ve opted for.
